802.11abgn Fast Industrial Hotspot RLX2

RLX2-IHNF

The ProSoft Technology Fast Industrial Hotspot (RLX2-IHNF) provides secure wireless solutions for plant-floor, SCADA automation, process control systems and mobile worker Wi-Fi infrastructure. It operates in the 2.4 or 5 GHz bands, including DFS channels, and is good for indoor or outdoor applications.

The Hotspot supports Access Point, Repeater, and Client modes. 802.11n technology delivers fast data rates up to 300 Mbps. This provides excellent packet-per-second performance and robust communications in rugged industrial environments. The 802.11n MIMO & Channel bonding supports demanding wireless applications such as Ethernet I/O and high-resolution video.

The included IH Browser configuration and monitoring software allows the user to view network topology, assign IP addresses, monitor network diagnostics, and update radio firmware. The optional OPC Diagnostic Server is ideal for managing long-range wireless SCADA networks.

ProSoft's Wireless Designer

ProSoft Wireless Designer simplifies the task of planning and specifying your ProSoft Wireless network. The easy to use, wizard-based interface creates a visual layout of your radios and sites, and generates a complete Bill of Materials including radios and accessories.

Features and Benefits

It simplifies the task of specifying a ProSoft Wireless installation, and provides a variety of views containing an accurate description of each site in a wireless network, including:

  • Visual diagram of site layout
  • Location (latitude/longitude, based on GPS coordinates)
  • Radio type, frequency range, and country-specific channel and power requirements
  • Length, type and estimated signal loss for cables
  • Required accessories, including lightning protection, cable adaptors and antennas
  • Complete parts list

Use ProSoft Wireless Designer when conducting a site audit for a customer, and then provide the customer with a complete list of components and a detailed description for each site and link. Customers can use this information to understand and visualize their network, and provide necessary information for technical support and maintenance.

ProSoft Wireless IO Solutions

How many times do you need to get a few points of digital or analogue inputs and outputs from point A to point B, but just can’t justify the cost of running the wires? The Radio Kit is a replacement for hardwired I/O that is simple to deploy. The Kit requires no programming to set up – just wire strippers and a screwdriver. There is no communication protocol to interpret. The radios are paired and secured at the factory, so there are no settings or configurations to figure out. It is bi-directional, so digital and analogue signals can be sent in both directions between two connected I/O stations. Inputs on one module are simply replicated as outputs on the corresponding module. Our wireless I/O makes use of the unlicensed ISM band at either 868 MHz or 2.4 GHz, with both US and International versions available. The radios can send I/O up to 4 miles for the 868 MHz and 2.4 GHz models. Each radio pair can connect up to 16 I/O modules, more than enough for most applications.

ProSoft Technology’s Multi-Point Wireless I/O system allows you to monitor I/O from multiple locations without running long wires. This secure, reliable system is scalable and deploys quickly, allowing you to skip trenching, conduit, and permits. Three module types: Analog 0-10 V, Analog 4-20 mA, and Digital/Discrete – give you the freedom to customize your setup based on your environment and needs.

The system can be used in different methods: I/O to I/O, I/O to Modbus serial communications, and Modbus® serial to Modbus Serial communications. This peer-to-peer system can move data from the I/O or Modbus devices to any other node. The digital input module can act as a counter and send the accumulated value to another location.

Wireless communications solutions for trains and railway

Westermo WLAN solutions for trains

Westermo offers a complete range of industrial wireless data communication solutions for Train to Ground, Wireless Inter-Carriage Link and Passenger Wi-Fi applications. The RT series of WLAN devices are designed to ensure reliable high-speed data communication even in extreme operational environments.

  • High data rates over distance
  • Reliable and stable RF links in noisy environments
  • High MTBF and long obsolescence management

Wireless communication for CBTC systems

Railway networks across the world are becoming increasingly busy. Real-time data providing information on the position of the train, speed and direction is becoming critical in order to maintain effective and safe traffic flow.

The RT series of wireless communication devices are designed to provide reliable communication between the moving train and the ground control centres along the track. Train to ground communication can of course also be used for other applications, such as value added passenger information and infotainment.

  • Fast handover between access points
  • Continuous coverage with high user data throughput using multiple MIMO data streams
  • Enables redundant and aggregated networks up to 460 Mbps per train
  • Latest security features 802.1X, NAT, PMF, MAC filters
  • Configurable operation in 2.4 or 5 GHz channels
  • Supports 24/7 operation in DFS frequencies with RT-370 as access point
  • Supports operation in license free bands
  • Redundant architectures for high availability

Wireless inter-carriage link

Solutions for interconnecting rail carriages wirelessly remove the need to rebuild train couplers, and enable new values adding solutions for train operators. Wireless connection can be especially useful in refurbishment projects where a wireless connection can result in a more cost-effective solution that can also handle high data rates.

Westermo’s smart Inter Carriage Link solution addresses the technical challenges associated with wireless connections between carriages such as cross connections to adjacent tracks, optimal frequency selection and large scale deployments.

  • Automatic coupling and decoupling process with easy configuration
  • Reliable positioning for link establishment during coupling
  • Completely transparent cable replacement feature
  • Advanced encryption (WPA2-PSK)
  • 5.8 GHz for Short Range Device operation
  • Data rate up to 450 Mbps with 380 Mbps user payload
  • Resistant against movement and vibrations
