The MVI46 IEC 60870-5-104 Server Network Interface Module allows SLC processors to interface easily with IEC 60870-5-104 protocol-compatible hosts. The MVI46-104S module has been designed to address applications where a device using the IEC 60870-5-104 protocol needs to communicate with a SLC processor. Functionality of the IEC protocol is very similar to the DNP 3.0 protocol which features time stamping and True Report by Exception (TRBE).

The MVI46 IEC 60870-5-104 Server Network Interface Module allows SLC processors to interface easily with IEC 60870-5-104 protocol-compatible hosts. The MVI46-104S module has been designed to address applications where a device using the IEC 60870-5-104 protocol needs to communicate with a SLC processor. Functionality of the IEC protocol is very similar to the DNP 3.0 protocol which features time stamping and True Report by Exception (TRBE). These features allow the MVI46-104S module to send a report to the processor without being polled, providing real time data transmission in critical situations.
Features and Benefits
The MVI46-104S module acts as an input/output module between the IEC-870-5-104 Ethernet network and the SLC backplane. Data transfer between the module and the processor is asynchronous from the actions on the network. Databases are defined by the user for the module to hold data as required by the protocol.
